Directing an Unscripted Play with Prescott Gaylord

Saturday February 23rd
2:00p   at  TNM Main Stage

Learn the methods and tools used in creating “Unscripted – A Full Length Play in Two Acts.”
Honed over several runs in the past 4 years, you will learn the essential tools for creating a dramatic narrative in play format.  Focus will remain on contemporary genres, but all tools can be applied to just about any genre. Focus will be on direction, but no improv direction experience will be necessary for the class.

Covered tools will include: Story arc, rising action tools, improvised acts of hubris, falling in love, climaxes on demand, using guest stars, using improvised tech-set-props, and dramatic resolutions.

Practice schedules will also be distributed.

The workshop will be about 1/3 discussion and 2/3 practical.  All students in the workshop will both direct and be directed. Some improv ability and knowledge is necessary.
