This is an audio-only 播客 of Dr. David Berliner’s presentation at the Texas Tech University College of Education on Friday, April 28, 2006. The title of Dr. Berliner’s keynote address for the college’s annual research conference was, “Troubles for the NCLB Act: It may not be improving achievement and it corrupts the profession.” Dr. Berliner is not against accountability, standards or assessment, but IS against government education policies of high stakes testing because they do not work (as shown through statistical analyses) and they corrupt the teaching profession. Dr. David Berliner holds degrees from UCLA, Cal State, LA and Stanford University and has served in positions at Cal State – San Jose, University of Massachusetts, and University of Arizona. He is currently a Regents’ Professor in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies in the College of Education at Arizona State University. His current research focuses on teaching, teacher education and 教育al policy. Dr. Berliner’s books include Educational Psychology (6th edition with N. L. Gage), The Manufactured Crisis (with B. J. Biddle) and The Handbook of Educational Psychology (edited with R. L. Calfee). He has served as president of the American Educational Research Association and of the Educational Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association. Berliner is a fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences 和 a member of the National Academy of Educati上.
